Analysis/Design Project in the State of Florida
September 03, 2010, Various Locations, Florida -- SAI has been given the notice to proceed for our first analysis/design project in the State of Florida for the Florida Department of Transportation -
Floridas Turnpike Enterprise! As a subconsultant to Comprehensive Engineering Services, Inc., SAI will perform structural analysis and design for a design/build project that involves the replacement of certain Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) that are mounted on eight (8) sign structures located on Floridas Turnpike Mainline at various locations in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade Counties.



SAI Awarded Design Services Contract with PennDot District 11
August 17, 2010, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Engineering District 11 has awarded SAI a preliminary design, final design and construction services for the replacement of the Culmerville Bridge, SR 1028A10 in West Deer Township, Allegheny County. The project involves the replacement/rehabilitation of an existing single-span steel deck truss bridge over the CN Railroad. (formerly B&LE Railroad) The superstructure will be replaced and the substructure rehabilitated. Minimal approach work will be necessary to tie the roadway with the new bridge.



SAI Awarded Construction Inspection with PennDot District 11
August 17, 2010, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Engineering District 11 has awarded SAI a construction inspection and documentation contract for five inspectors on SR 79-A54 involving milling and surfacing as well as repairs. The project is located from Moon Run to Neville Island in Kennedy and Robinson Townships in Allegheny County. Work to begin September 7, 2010.



SAI Awarded Design/Build in PennDot District 12
July 01, 2010, Pittsburgh, PA -- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Engineering District 12 has awarded the team of Joseph B. Fay Company and SAI Consulting Engineers, Inc. the Charleroi Monessen Bridge Replacement Project. This design/build project involves replacing the three through-truss spans of the Charleroi-Monessen Bridge. Preservation work on the nine approach steel girder spans as well as other miscellaneous construction will also be involved.

SAI Part of Successful Team for Open End at PennDot Central Office
June 17, 2010, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Central Office, Bureau of Design, has awarded the team of Greenhorne & O'Mara, Inc. and SAI Consulting Engineers, Inc. an open end for various engineering and environmental services provided under a departmental open end contract. The work will range from bridge replacement, bridge rehabilitation with minor approach work, environmental studies, roadway betterments (3R type), to minor capital improvement projects(bridges or roadway), railroad grade crossing as well as minor location studies.



SAI Awarded Construction Inspection with PennDot District 10
June 17, 2010, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Engineering District 10 has awarded SAI a construction inspection contract in Armstrong County on SR 422, Section 111 - the Judge Graff Bridge Project. Construction Inspection begins August 1st, 2010.



SAI Awarded Open End in District 3
June 17, 2010, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Engineering District 3 has awarded SAI a $1,000,000.00 open end for engineering and environmental services. It is our first open end in District 3 and our second contract awarded in District 3. The work will encompass a wide range of environmental and engineering efforts, construction services, proposal development and review services, and the review of environmental and design submissions.

SAI Awarded Bridgeville Streetscape Project for Allegheny County
May 18, 2010, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -- As a subconsultant to Klavon Design Associates, Inc., SAI will provide engineering design services for the improvements of the towns business district centered around Washington Pike from Bower Hill Road to Hickman Street. Streetscape improvements include sidewalks and crossings, wayfinding signage and pedestrian-scale street lights and signals.



SAI Awarded Bridge Open-End Construction Inspection Project with PennDot District 11
April 16, 2010, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Engineering District 11 has awarded SAI an open-end construction inspection contract for Allegheny, Beaver, and Lawrence Counties. Assignments may include roadway and bridge construction projects and material plant inspection. This is a five year $1,000,000 agreement.



SAI Awarded Construction Inspection with PennDot District 12
April 16, 2010, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Engineering District 12 has awarded SAI a construction inspection contract for South Morgan Street (State Route 218 over RR/Ten Mile Creek) in Franklin Township and Waynesburg Borough, Greene County. The project will consist of replacing the existing at-grade bridge structure over the south branch of Ten Mile Creek with a multi-span grade separation structure that will span both the creek and Norfolk Southern Railroad.



SAI Awarded Design and Miscellaneous Services Agreement with PennDot District 9
April 16, 2010, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Engineering District 9 has awarded SAI a three part contract in Cambria County consisting of preliminary engineering and environmental services for the replacement of the Cresson High Level Bridge on S.R. 0053, Section 022 in Gallitzin Township over Norfolk Southern Railroad. Parts two and three consist of final design and services during construction including shop drawing review and construction consultation.



SAI Awarded Bridge Inspection Contract with PennDot Central Office
April 16, 2010, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania -- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Central Office, the Bureau of Design, was awarded a statewide open-end contract involving bridge inspection including crossings over Norfolk Southern Railroad. The various projects will involve state and local PACore Element Bridge Safety Inspections and load ratings for bridges over Norfolk Southern Rail Lines. It is a six year $2,000,000 agreement.



SAI Part of Successful Team for Two Bridge Replacements for PennDot District 12
April 01, 2010, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Engineering District 12 has awarded the team of SAI and Frank Gavlik & Sons, Inc. a design build project consisting of two bridges as well as roadway design on US Route 19 over Wades Run in Greene County. The bridge will be replaced with a P/S concrete box beam structure and will require design of two single span, integral abutment bridges and the design of roadway SR 19-A10.



SAI Awarded Construction Management and Inspection Contract with the City of Pittsburgh
March 30, 2010, Pittsburgh -- The City of Pittsburgh Department of Public Works has awarded SAI a contract to provide dedicated construction management and inspection services as an extension of the Citys transportation and engineering staff. The Agreement may include roadway and bridge projects, as well as other transportation related projects in the City of Pittsburgh.




SAI Awarded Construction Inspection and Documentation Agreement with PennDOT District 11
March 29, 2010, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Engineering District 11 has awarded SAI a contract to provide supplementary construction inspection staff of approximately 8 inspectors under the 1100 Inspector-in-Charge for construction inspection services on S.R. 3160-A09 and S.R. 3086-A20 in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. The scope of work for both projects will include roadway and bridge construction, as well as other miscellaneous construction activities.



SAI Awarded CEI Contract for Four Projects in Collier County, Florida with FDOT District 1
March 25, 2010, Kissimmee, Florida -- The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 1 has awarded SAI a contract for construction engineering and inspection for four projects (two hybrid and two full CEI) in Collier County, Florida. Two of the projects are of US 41 while the other two are on SR 29 with a total estimated CEI budget of $2.1 Million.

SAI Awarded U.S. 27 CEI Contract with FDOT District 1
February 26, 2010, Kissimmee, Florida -- The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 1 has awarded SAI a contract for construction engineering and inspection for the US 27, North of SR 540 to North of SR 542, Project, Polk County, FL. This project is being funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) and consists of widening and reconstructing US 27 from four to six lanes.



SAIs CEO Receives Distinguished Service Award in Engineering
January 22, 2010, Pittsburgh, PA -- Donald V. Gennuso, P.E. Chief Executive Officer, SAI Consulting Engineers, Inc. is the recipient of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers Distinguished Service Award 2010. The award will be presented during the National Engineers Week Banquet at the Club at Nevillewood on February 27, 2010. This award recognizes an individual for their outstanding contributions toward the improvement of the social, economic, and professional status of the Professional Engineer.

Donald V. Gennuso, P.E., P.L.S., earned a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the Carnegie Institute of Technology, Pittsburgh, and is a registered professional engineer in several states including Florida, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and West Virginia. In addition, he is a registered land surveyor in Pennsylvania. He currently serves as the President of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Pennsylvania (ACEC/PA) and has served as the president of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE). Mr. Gennuso is also a long-standing member of the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers, and the Engineers Society of Western Pennsylvania.

Under Mr. Gennusos leadership as CEO, SAI has grown from a company with a handful of employees to an employee-owned corporation with 170 employees and three offices, which ENR has recognized as one of the top 500 Design Firms in the United States. Prior to joining Salvucci Engineers, Inc. (now SAI Consulting Engineers, Inc.) in 1978, Mr. Gennuso began his civil engineering career with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, District 11-0, in 1964.



SAI Awarded Open-End District Wide Consultant Inspection Agreement with PennDOT District 12-0
January 18, 2010, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Engineering District 12-0 has awarded SAI a contract to provide supplementary construction inspection staff under the Department's Inspector(s)-in-Charge Program. SAI will perform construction inspection services on various projects located within the District. The Agreement may include roadway and bridge construction projects, as well as material plant inspection. The Agreement is for a period of 5 years with a maximum cost of 1,000,000.



SAIs Pittsburgh Office Adds a New Professional Engineer
January 06, 2010, Pittsburgh, PA -- SAI Consulting Engineers, Inc. is pleased to announce the addition of Jason M. DeFlitch, P.E., to their Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, office as a Project Engineer in their Structure Group. Mr. DeFlitch was most recently employed as a Senior Bridge Engineer by a national consulting-engineering firm. A graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, Mr. DeFlitch has 8 years of experience in the transportation industry and is a registered Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia.



SAI Awarded Construction Inspection of S.R. 0220-12M, US 220 South Bedford Resurfacing with PennDOT District 9-0
December 10, 2009, Pittsburgh, PA -- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Engineering District 9-0 has awarded SAI a contract for construction inspection of S.R. 0220-12M, US 220 South Bedford resurfacing. Work consists of, but is not limited to, concrete patching and paving (bituminous overlay), a curve improvement, maintenance of drainage facilities, upgrading of guide rail and median barrier, full-depth pavement reconstruction to increase vertical clearance under the S.R. 3021 overhead structure. Beam repairs and partial painting will be included on the S.R. 3021 overhead bridge along with minor changes to another mainline structure. The overall cost of construction for this project is estimated between $8,000,000 - $10,000,000.



SAI Part of Successful CEI Team Awarded Rigid Pavement Rehabilitation Project in Polk County, FL with FDOT District 1
December 09, 2009, Orlando, Florida -- As a subconsultant to MACTEC Engineering and Consulting, Inc., SAI will provide a project administrator for construction engineering and inspection (CEI) services for a rigid pavement rehabilitation project (in Lakeland, Polk County, FL) for US 92 (Memorial Boulevard), west of Atlantic Road to Gary Road. The project will begin June 2010 and end in approximately 240 days. Construction for the project is estimated at $7 million.

SAI Awarded Professional Construction Management Services Contract at the Pittsburgh International and Allegheny County Airports
December 07, 2009, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -- The Allegheny County Airport Authority has awarded SAI a contract for Professional Construction Management Services at the Pittsburgh International Airport and the Allegheny County Airport. July 17, 2009, Orlando, Florida -- As a subconsultant to Dunkleberger Engineering Testing, Inc. (Port St. Lucie, FL), SAI will provide structural engineering support and structural value engineering on a two year contract with St. Lucie County with an option for three one-year extensions.



SAI Part of the Winning Design/Build Team for Two Bridge Replacement Projects in PennDOT District 12-0
July 07, 2009, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Engineering District 12-0 has awarded the Frank Gavlik & Sons, Inc. /SAI Consulting Engineers, Inc. Design/Build team two contracts for the replacement of the S.R. 3006 two-span bridge over York Run and the S.R. 1054 simple-span and precast box culvert over Back Run Creek. The overall value of these two construction contracts is $2,748,391.



SAI Awarded Florida Group Hybrid CEI Contract with FDOT District 1
July 06, 2009, Orlando, Florida -- The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 1 has awarded SAI a contract for construction engineering and inspection for the M.L.K, Jr. Street from US 17 to Booker T. SAI Awarded Construction Inspection of S.R. 0030-027, Bedford Bypass Overlay with PennDOT District 9-0
June 17, 2009, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Engineering District 9-0 has awarded SAI a contract for construction inspection of S.R. 0030-027, Bedford Bypass Overlay. This Design/Build project consists of the restoration of US Route 30 from Stony Lane (T-720) east to the Snake Spring Township line. The scope of work will consist of bituminous overlay, shoulder and guiderail upgrades, and other miscellaneous construction. The value of the overall construction contract is between $5,000,000 and $7,500,000.

June 04, 2009, Orlando, Florida -- As a subconsultant to Johnson Engineering (Fort Myers, FL), SAI will provide additional personnel for construction engineering and inspection (CEI) services for the resurfacing of nine miles of C.R. 832 in Hendry County, FL.



SAI Announces Orlando, FL Office Manager
May 28, 2009, Orlando, FL -- SAI Consulting Engineers, Inc. is pleased to announce the addition of Bassel Kassem, P.E. as Office Manager in their Orlando, Florida office.

Mr. Kassem has over 11 years of design and management experience in the transportation industry and is a registered Professional Engineer in the states of Florida, Mississippi, and Virginia. A graduate of The University of Central Florida with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and Master of Science in Structural and Foundation Engineering, Mr. Kassem has established himself in the state of Florida and the field through structural design projects for FDOT and various other government agencies. His responsibilities will include structural design, project management, and the day-to-day management of the Florida Office Design Operations.
